nikf:
Excellent piece by Craig Grannell about Joshua Kors, a Huffington Post “Investigative Reporter” who decided to return his iMac. Pure linkbait on the Huffington Posts’ part.
Awesomesauce. I tweeted a link to TUAW’s reaction earlier today which also bears a look-in.

I am ridiculously proud of my team for what they’ve accomplished here over the past four weeks. The design work from our UX department has been top-notch, and everyone inside the company and out who’s seen this stuff has been utterly blown away. You can see more info on the new features on the Kobo website.

iTunes adds international promo codes →
Erica Sadun, writing for TUAW:
“[A]pplication promo codes may now be used internationally, instead of being limited to US store customers only.”
Fantastic. Slightly too late to get review copies out before Christmas (most major news/publicity distribution networks go on blackout for Christmas on December 15th) but overall very welcome.
PayPal admits US pressure over WikiLeaks account... →
PayPal VP of platform Osama Bedier:
“State Dept told us these were illegal activities. It was straightforward.”
No specifics on which laws were breached was offered or, it appears, required— just the claim of ‘illegality’ in general.

Tumblr Backup app for Mac OS X →
nikf:
If you’re on OS X, and run a blog hosted on Tumblr (like this one), it might be wise to run this tool every so often. Just in case.
While I don’t think it’s worth going overboard about the Tumblr outage (it’s a blog people, it’s not like your lives depend on it) this is a worthwhile tool for keeping your own backups, just in case. You should always keep backups of...
