Farewell urftopdf, we hardly knew ye
So I got an email from Apple Legal today. Long & short of it was that they were contacting me directly instead of just sending a C&D via courier since I’m a real developer working for a decent company. They told me that they believe my urftopdf implementation is derivative of theirs. I can’t afford to fight them in the courts, despite believing that this isn’t the case, so for now I’ve complied with their wishes and taken it down.
I guess this means I can’t use that as the example of using CFRuntime.h and creating your own CoreFoundation objects for my 360|MacDev talk either then…
I’ve asked for clarification on whether they would say the same if I rewrote the (very small) program in a different enough way, but I don’t know how soon I’ll get a reply. Apparently there’s a holiday next week or something.
In the meantime, if anyone else would like to try their own clean-room implementation, my notes on the UNIRAST file format and some sample URF files are still available.
