The IRA was bombing England for many years, and yet day-to-day British society didn’t change nearly as much as when the Labour government of the day decided to ban all sale of beef on the bone for fear of BSE. They’re still in power, and still making huge changes to people’s everyday lives, in the name of ‘public safety’.
