Louie Mantia’s Boarding Pass Redesign. Another did the rounds earlier this month, and whilst stylish it was seemingly created just to make use of a designer’s favourite typeface. Louie design is still stylish: but I don’t actually have to spend a great deal of time trying to read the typeface.
The other one is horrible— using a condensed all-caps font? Urgh. Mantia’s version however is much easier to read due to its more sensible use of the available space, and in the use of negative space in the font itself. In this regard, it’s similar to the reasoning behind the Clearview typeface for highway signs in the US.
