So I just grabbed some free OTF fonts from Larabie Fonts, and I have to say I’m very impressed with the packaging. You can download in a fair few formats, but for the Mac you can pull down a plain zip file (useful for putting on the web) or a custom-built installer package.
The installer is especially impressive: not only does it include a custom ‘Introduction’ page displaying all your fonts inline for you to see, but even includes multi-level sub-packages allowing you to install individual fonts, or fonts in a particular format, etc. And this all gets generated instantly.
Very, very impressed.
